Seattle is one of those cities, where the amount of concrete and metal constructions would not impress you much at the first sign.
The often rainy and gray days do not add a lot to the picture. ( Or maybe its just me: I am used to gray days, from when I lived in Saint-Petersburg, but was rather spoiled with cultural and architectural masterpieces).
Seattle secret opens up to those who loves music. Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Foo Fighters — just to name a few… and the rest of the «short» list is here. When you wander along the city streets or water you try to imagine what could have inspired people to create here all this cult music…
Speaking about the architecture and the music, there must be something in Seattle that would strike the tourists and those who has no clue about the music culture would be slightly intrigued by the EMP building (Experience Music Project). I regret I couldn’t get inside this time, but I can assure you the exterior is just spectacular. Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, donated millions for these project. Why in Seattle? Well, he was born here, BTW.
There are more labels for Seattle to make you interested. If you don’t care about music, museums or hi-tech stuff. Amazon.com headquarters is based in Seattle. Books are not your friends? Then coffee might be your thing. The oldest Starbucks cafe is in Seattle (to be explored next time I’m there!). Too boring just for coffee? What about checking out the Boeing factory?
